1. What We Collect
- Account information: name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text), or your Google account info if you sign in with Google.
- Vessel and maintenance data: boat details, equipment, service log entries, checklists, insurance and registration records, and anything else you add.
- Photos and documents you upload for a vessel, piece of equipment, or record.
- Usage data: login activity, device/browser information, and basic diagnostic logs, used to keep the Service secure and working.
2. How We Use It
We use your information to operate and improve ReadyHelm: to show you your own vessel records, generate maintenance reminders and AI-assisted suggestions, let you share vessel access with people you choose (a broker, a service provider, a co-owner), send you account-related email (password resets, invites, expiration reminders), and keep the Service secure.
3. Who We Share It With
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- People you explicitly grant access to a vessel (Viewer, Editor, or Service Provider access, managed by you).
- Service providers who help us run ReadyHelm — for example, our hosting/database provider and our email delivery provider — bound to protect your data and use it only to provide their service to us.
- Law enforcement or others, only if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ReadyHelm or our users.
4. Data Retention
We keep your account and vessel data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we'll delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain it (for example, financial or legal records).
5. Your Rights
You can request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of your data at any time by emailing [email protected]; we'll respond and confirm once it's done. If you're in a jurisdiction with additional data rights (such as the EU/UK or California), we'll honor those rights on request.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures — encrypted connections, hashed passwords, access controls — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, and as beta software, ReadyHelm is still being hardened; please use a unique password and let us know right away at [email protected] if you notice anything suspicious.
7. Children
ReadyHelm isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make a material change to how we handle your data, you'll be asked to review and accept the updated Policy the next time you sign in.
